Nyepi, the Balinese “Day of Silence,” is the most mystical and unique date on the Balinese calendar, found nowhere else in the world. This Hindu holiday marks the Balinese New Year. During this annual 24-hour period, which falls on Monday March 11, the entire island comes to a complete standstill. The businesses are closed and even the airport ceases to operate! Nyepi is truly a sacred day of deep spiritual reflection, meditation, and self-purification. Minimal light and electricity are used, and as the evening settles into darkness, the sky is illuminated with thousands of stars. By observing this annual practice, the Balinese people believe they can restore balance between the gods, humanity, and nature once again.
Immerse yourself in the serene atmosphere of Bali’s Nyepi festival for the ultimate experience on the Island of Gods.
